14 sleeps to go

Life has settled dramatically since my last post. We officially moved out of our house on Saturday – a little sad for a number of reasons but especially because it was absolutely sparkling clean and I would have loved to sit and enjoy that moment; which wouldn’t have lasted long with two boys, but still would have been nice for a short amount of time. We moved in with some wonderfully kind friends who offered beds, food and wine!

Steve and I have continued to work this week whilst the boys spent time with their Nanny and Grandad. I drove them down to Brisbane on Sunday with a massive car load of items including important paperwork, scooters, all our backpacks and other items to survive a few weeks. We experienced a taste of Brisbane’s best heat and humidity and summer storms whilst we were there and tried to think of ways to keep cool. Caught up with my old friend and bridesmaid Sara, her two lovely boys and their fantastic swimming pool – thanks! We also enjoyed a wonderful dinner with my Uncle Bob and Auntie Nola, who live in a suburb hit very hard by the flooding in the Ipswich area.

Drove back to Toowoomba on Tuesday afternoon and what should normally be a 2 hour drive, took 3 ½ hours. The only saving grace is that I didn’t have children in the car and I had filled up my water bottle and stocked up on gummy bears before leaving. At one stage I started timing the journey and it took me a whole 20 minutes to drive 1km heading up the Toowoomba range. Have done a few tidying up jobs this week with the house and real estate agent. Otherwise have relaxed, had lots of wine to drink and time to think about how lucky we are to have our family and house and contents safe.
